We have to expand our Senate majority next year
Team,
When Democrats passed the American Rescue Plan, we set the nation on the road to recovery from the pandemic and helped families and small businesses return to normal life.
But before we take a closer look at how the ARP has helped Rhode Island, I wanted to remind you: Not a single Senate Republican voted for it. If we had just one fewer Democratic vote, we wouldn’t have been able to provide this lifeline and get shots in arms.
So I’m asking, can you chip in just $5 right now to protect our Senate majority in 2024 so we can continue making progress for the American people?
Let’s take a look at the numbers:
- With federal support, Rhode Islanders applied to start 22,000 new businesses and 440+ restaurants received relief through the Restaurant Revitalization Fund.
- 1,000+ child care programs in the state received support to stay open, and 185,000 kids benefitted from the expanded Child Tax Credit.
- Unemployment fell from 6.5% in January 2021 to 3.2% last December.
- 6,000 college students received direct financial relief, 32,000 Rhode Islanders' health care premiums were lowered, and over 50,000 people received rental and utility assistance to stay in their homes and keep the lights on.
Our American Rescue Plan was one of the most effective pieces of legislation in history.
But there’s no question that if we let the GOP capture the Senate next year, they’ll do the bidding of the dark-money special interests that helped elect them – that means no progress on climate, health care affordability, gun safety, and so many other issues we care about.
I’m working hard to elect more Democrats and expand our Senate majority. It’s the only way we’ll be able to continue delivering for Rhode Island and all of America. Can you join me in this fight by making a donation to my campaign?
Thank you,
Sheldon Whitehouse
