Dear,
Chuck Todd just reported on the Meet the Press that despite the avalanche of revelations about Trump’s abuses of power, senators STILL aren’t hearing from constituents.
“Our phones aren’t ringing. Nobody cares,” a Democratic told him.(1)
Worse yet, as of last week, there were 11 TV ads running around the country defending Trump, and there was not a single ad supporting his impeachment, according to our friends at MoveOn.
The Senate impeachment trial could end THIS WEEK, and the vote on whether to call witnesses could be as soon as tomorrow. We need to blow up the phones in D.C. right now to demand a fair trial with evidence and witnesses. Will you chip in $5?
Yes, I’ll donate $5 to turn up the heat on senators to get a fair trial and hold Trump accountable.
The conventional wisdom is that the outcome of Trump’s impeachment trial is already predetermined and set in stone. But we only need four Republican senators to vote for witnesses to testify, and if that happens, all bets are off.
The New York Times is reporting that an unpublished transcript of former Trump National Security Advisor John Bolton claims firsthand knowledge that Trump personally coordinated the Ukraine quid pro quo, withholding military aid in exchange for help against Joe Biden in the 2020 election.(2)
Bolton also says that Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, and other top White House officials knew about this and were personally involved.
Trump has claimed that he never even met the people who engineered the scheme, but video has just emerged of him talking to them about it and demanding the firing of the Ukraine ambassador.
The mountain of evidence just keeps growing, but none of this will matter unless senators are feeling pressure to uphold their oaths and hold Trump accountable.
That’s why we need the phone in D.C. to be ringing off the hook right now. Will you chip in $5 to help turn up the pressure?
Yes, I’ll donate $5 to help demand witnesses in the Senate impeachment trial and hold Trump accountable.
Yours in the fight for our democracy,
Caitlin, along with Angela, Anne, Brian, Deepthi, Eddie, Gabby, Jay, Lindsay, Mary, Molly, Raquel, Scottie, and Tai (the Courage team)
