Trump’s trial cannot go on beyond closed doors.

Friend,

It’s finally happened: Trump has been indicted for campaign finance fraud.

The twice-impeached ex-president faces more than 30 counts of criminal activity, and he is being arraigned today.(1)

The first-ever felony indictment of a former United States president is historic, and the public requires complete transparency from beginning to end. But New York is the only state in the nation barring cameras in court.(2)

Will you sign our petition calling on New York lawmakers to allow cameras in Trump’s courtroom?

The Washington Post says it best: Democracy dies in darkness.

Trump’s trial will dominate the news, but without cameras in the courtroom, the public will have to rely entirely on the media for coverage. And we have seen what Fox News tells its viewers -- we can’t allow room for right-wing lies and disinformation without allowing the public to see the truth for themselves.

Disinformation propagandists like Tucker Carlson can cherry pick coverage to fit a pro-Trump narrative, and Trump is back on Facebook and Twitter, giving him a massive platform to spin the trial.

The American public must be able to watch the trial themselves. New York lawmakers can reverse the rule barring cameras in the courtroom, and we need as many people as possible to call on them to do that right now.
