John --
A new rule passed by the Trump administration could deny tourist Visas if the individual applying “looks pregnant” or is “suspected of being pregnant.”
This sexist new rule marginalizes female travelers and leads to invasive questioning. It does not apply to the 39 Asian and European countries enrolled in the Visa Waiver Program. This, like many of Trump’s racist policies, affects black and brown communities the most.
This week the Supreme Court also voted in favor of upholding Trump’s abhorrent “public charge” rule. Stephen Miller’s bigoted policy punishes poverty and limits migration, citizenship and residency to individuals who could need any kind of public assistance such as Medicaid, food stamps or housing. The rule not only applies to those entering the country but those seeking citizenship and residency who are already living and working in the United States.
The public charge rule is nothing more than a punishment for poverty and an anti-immigration tool written by a racist and xenophobic administration.
