‘IT’S TIME FOR CHOOSING. LET’S MAKE THE RIGHT ONE’ (Highland County Press) – Senator Vance penned an Op-ed urging passage of his bill that would hold Norfolk Southern accountable for its train derailment in East Palestine.

“You cannot claim special government privileges, you cannot ask the government to bail you out, and then resist basic public safety.

“We are the party of firefighters, of police officers, of the people who go to work, pay their taxes, fight our country's wars, and keep our communities safe. We are proud of that and we should be proud of that in the Republican Party.

“I believe that we are the party of working people, but it's time to be the party of working people. We have a choice. Are we for big business and big government or are we for the people of East Palestine?” wrote Senator Vance.

‘TOXIC CHEMICALS WERE RELEASED, AND THE LIVES OF MORE THAN 5,000 AMERICANS WERE FOREVER CHANGED’ (Fox News) – Senators JD Vance, Marco Rubio and Josh Hawley penned an Op-ed urging passage of their Railway Safety Act.

“The path forward for this bill is clear. The Senate majority leader and the president have pledged to do what it takes to make it law, and a bipartisan group from the Ohio delegation has introduced similar legislation in the House of Representatives.

“This legislation should be of special interest to our Republican colleagues. America’s railroads run through their rural districts and red communities. When derailments occur, it is predominantly Republican voters—their voters—who bear the brunt and who rush to put out the fires.

“We owe it to them to hold the railroad industry to a higher standard, and that’s exactly what the Railway Safety Act will do.”

‘WE DON’T HAVE A REAL COUNTRY IF JUSTICE DEPENDS ON POLITICS’(Spectrum News) -- On Saturday, Vance defended his endorsement of Trump’s bid for president in 2024. “I’ve been asked by multiple reporters if an indictment would lead me to rescind my endorsement of Donald Trump. The answer is: hell no,” he wrote in a tweet.

‘SO MUCH OF THIS IS ABOUT PROMISES AND WHETHER THEY’RE GOING TO FOLLOW THROUGH’ (WFMJ) – Senator JD Vance made another stop in East Palestine, hoping Norfolk Southern follows through on their promises to the people of the village.

"There's going to be a tough balancing act over the next few years about how to support the people who stay in East Palestine and help the rebuilding effort while also making sure nobody is trapped here," Vance said. "We're going to have to strike that balance in the right way."

‘IT IS A TRAVESTY THAT RESIDENTS DO NOT HAVE THEIR COMMUNITY CLEANED UP’ (The Vindicator) – Senator Vance shared frustrations with local officials and residents about the slow clean up efforts.

“Recovery for East Palestine is basically impossible until we clean up the mounds of toxic dirt,” Vance said. “The fact that we have this massive chemical spill and the people here still don’t have any confidence that this stuff is going to get moved out of their community in a timely way is a complete disgrace and a complete failure of leadership.”
