Trump is the target of a politically ambitious DA - The lack of surprise at this indictment is not because Trump is necessarily guilty of any crimes, but because he is the target of a politically ambitious DA in Manhattan. Alvin Bragg is a Soros-supported, rogue prosecutor who won’t prosecute misdemeanors and is giving a get-out-of-jail free card to many serious felony defendants, resulting in dramatically rising crimes rates in New York City. While ignoring serious crimes happening every day in New York, Bragg is pursing what he claims is a violation of federal campaign finance law that happened seven years ago by trying to shoehorn it into a misdemeanor claim about false business records. It is the Federal Election Commission and the U.S. Justice Department who enforce federal campaign laws and neither of them considered the settlement with Stormy Daniels a violation that merited prosecution. In fact, the U.S. Attorney’s Office opened, and then closed, an investigation into this matter. Heritage Experts: John Malcolm and Zack Smith

Winning the New Cold War: A Plan for Countering China - A new Heritage Foundation special report, “Winning the New Cold War: A Plan for Countering China,” recognizes that China is an adversary and that the U.S. has entered a new cold war, though it will differ in important ways from the last one. China is, in some ways, a more capable adversary than the USSR ever was. Heritage Experts: Erin Walsh and Michael Cunningham

Chinese Spy Balloon Gathered Intelligence From Sensitive US Military Sites, Despite Efforts to Block It - Biden floated a variety of explanations and excuses as to why the balloon was allowed to survey critical defense facilities from coast to coast—from “Blame Trump” to “Everything is under control,” to “I am really the hero here.” But the real reason for the Administration’s belated, muddled, and confused response is that Biden is trapped between his desire to want to normalize relations with China, and the American people who want him to get tough on China and protect us. Heritage Experts: Victoria Coates and Michael Cunningham

Nebraska’s Heartbeat Bill Shows That Life Is Worth Preserving, Protecting - The Nebraska Heartbeat Act is the type of legislation that demonstrates life is worth protecting and preserving. Several states, including New York and Illinois, have done the opposite by removing restrictions on abortion. One state delegate in Virginia proposed a bill in 2019 that would allow doctors to perform an abortion even if the mother showed signs of going into labor. Federal legislators have moved in a similar direction. House Democrats proposed a bill after Texas enacted its “heartbeat” ban that removed abortion restrictions after fetal viability. The past 50 years of legal battles over abortion—starting with Roe v. Wade in 1973 and continuing since the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision last summer—prove every state will have to define what life is and when it should be protected. Heritage Expert: Delano Squires

6 Charts Show Why Washington Must Cut Spending ASAP - The recently released Biden administration budget for 2024 was layered with problems. It doesn’t take the surging size of the national debt seriously; it views shaking down taxpayers as the solution to fiscal problems; it would hand massive raises to federal bureaucrats; and it offers bad medicine for Medicare while allowing Social Security to go bankrupt. Yet perhaps the central flaw with the plan is that it proposes to further expand the nondefense roles of the federal government, as though Washington doesn’t have control over enough of Americans’ day-to-day lives. Reality check: Nondefense spending has exploded, fueling unaffordable federal deficits. Since spending on major benefit programs like Social Security and Medicare is set to automatically grow every year, Congress must act quickly to bring this spending down to earth—and absolutely must avoid President Joe Biden’s approach of feeding the federal leviathan even more. Heritage Expert: David Ditch

Does Charlotte Clymer Know God Better Than the Bible and 2,000 Years of Christian Tradition? - Transgender activists aim to police the speech of Americans—particularly when it comes to preferred pronouns, but some of them do not extend the Almighty the same courtesy. Charlotte Clymer, a biological male who identifies as a transgender woman, recently took to MSNBC to claim that conservatives “cynically weaponize” and “exploit” the deaths of children by pointing out the fact that the woman who massacred six people in a Nashville Christian school identified as transgender, according to police. Of course, this shooter’s transgender identity does not implicate others who identify as transgender or those who advocate for redefinitions of legal rights along transgender lines, though it may illustrate the danger of exaggerated claims of a “genocide” against transgender people. Heritage Expert: Tyler O'Neil
