Hi John,
The far right are back on the streets. But John, I’m writing to you to tell you we have a plan to turn the tide.
Groups like Patriotic Alternative are on the march and targeting refugees, asylum seekers and migrants. They’re organising demonstrations, running leafleting drives and spreading misinformation. So far in 2023 we’ve recorded over 50 local demonstrations organised or motivated by the far right.
There’s a real risk that if these demonstrations continue, the far right could use them to recruit new members and further spread their hateful ideas.
My team and I have put together a plan for how HOPE not hate can make a real difference in this space, but we need your help to make it work. Will you chip in?
From local community action to a huge online ad campaign, any amount you can chip in will go towards our new plan to tackle this new manifestation of an old menace.
I WILL SUPPORT THIS PROJECT
We are living in dangerous and worrying times. The Conservatives are whipping up a climate of racism and hostility towards migrants and asylum seekers, and the far-right are profiting from it by preying on the fear and anger felt by communities who are struggling with the cost of living, spreading misinformation and making people seeking asylum their scapegoats.
As we saw with the riot in Knowsley earlier this year, and the far-right terror attack in Dover, all of this is putting lives at stake and increasing division in Britain.
Over recent weeks John, I have been working with my team to put together a big HOPE not hate intervention, and we need your support.
YES, I'LL HELP
The HOPE not hate team and I are working day and night, tracking these demonstrations, working with local community groups to respond to the far right threat and writing briefings for local activists, politicians and the press.
But to start turning the tide, we are going to have to do more.
With your help, we will:
- Develop free resources and leaflets for local community groups to fight misinformation and scapegoating.
- Run a digital advertising campaign to reach tens of thousands of people in areas targeted by the far right, spreading a message of hope and cohesion.
- Invest in the best digital tools to support our research team to monitor and tackle the far right and understand how they are organising online.
- Turn our findings into a report and share it with refugee charities and politicians, making sure that as many people as possible are involved in our mission to tackle far right hate.
We've got a committed team and a solid plan of action but a project like this costs money. John, Can you help us get going as soon as possible?
If you’re able to support it, this project will happen even faster.
YES, I'LL SUPPORT
Thank you for everything you do.
Solidarity,
Nick Lowles, CEO of HOPE not hate
