Percent Change in County Population: July 1, 2021, to July 1, 2022 [ [link removed] ]

Growth in the nation’s largest counties rebounds in 2022 with migration and growth patterns edging closer to pre-pandemic levels.

Whitman County, Washington, was the fastest-growing county between 2021 and 2022. In fact, all 10 of the top fastest-growing counties were in the South or West.

Census Bureau Invites Public Input on Proposed Disclosure Avoidance Measures for the County Business Patterns Program
The U.S. Census Bureau published a Federal Register Notice inviting the public to review and submit feedback on proposed modernized disclosure avoidance methods for 2022 County Business Patterns (CBP) data. The 60-day comment period will close June 2.

On Thursday, April 20, the Census Bureau will host a webinar for the public about its disclosure avoidance methods and how they apply to CBP data.

OnTheMap Update and 2020 LODES Data

The Census Bureau will release an updated version of its *Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics (LEHD) Origin-Destination Employment Statistics (LODES) [ [link removed] ]* data product on Tuesday, April 4. The 8.0 version of LODES will add data for 2020 and will recast all historical LODES years into 2020 census blocks. The *OnTheMap [ [link removed] ]* application will be updated to include these new LODES tabulations that will contain 19 years of data, from 2002 to 2020.

New 2021 Journey to Work Report

On Thursday, April 6, the Census Bureau will release a new report, Home-Based Workers and the COVID-19 Pandemic, that describes trends in working from home during 2019 and 2021. The report uses data from the 2019 and 2021 American Community Survey one-year estimates to describe sociodemographic, occupational and geographic patterns associated with working from home during the year before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic compared to the first full year after the pandemic’s onset.
