Today, the Florida Senate Ethics and Elections committee unveiled the text of Senate Bill 7050, an omnibus election bill that revises multiple parts of Florida’s election code. The bill is scheduled for a public hearing tomorrow at 2 p.m. EDT.

On Friday, the Mississippi Legislature passed a controversial bill that would create a separate, unelected court over parts of Jackson, Mississippi, the state capital. The bill would allow court personnel, including judges and prosecuting attorneys, to be appointed by white, statewide officials even though Black Mississippians make up more than 80% of Jackson’s population.

On Thursday, a federal judge allowed a consolidated redistricting lawsuit against Galveston County, Texas, to move forward. The plaintiffs allege that the county’s redistricting plan violates Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act.

Tomorrow, a Tennessee law that cuts Nashville’s city council in half heads to court at 10 a.m. EDT. Two lawsuits argue that the law “wages an unprecedented disenfranchisement of the voters” and violates the state constitution. We’ll live tweet the proceedings and publish an article in the morning breaking down the law.

Also tomorrow, voters in Wisconsin will head to the polls in the state’s crucial state Supreme Court race. The outcome will determine control of the court.
