If you are not yet familiar with Keith's story, we have all the nitty gritty details of the entire saga in our online case file.
In short, Keith was legally sharing FIJA brochures on the public sidewalk–the most protected public place for First Amendment activity under current Supreme Court precedent.
Nonetheless, government officials falsely arrested and criminally charged him for free speech activity to create more fully informed jurors.
Since his arrest in November of 2015, Keith has appealed his wrongful conviction in the Mecosta County Circuit Court, in the Michigan Court of Appeals, and now, in the Michigan Supreme Court.
FIJA is proud that we have been able to support Keith in this fight with amicus briefs every step of the way!
Though our resources are limited, we continue to fight in every way we can to protect your ability to educate your neighbors about jurors' full authority and responsibility that judges and prosecutors are trying to hide.
Oral arguments are currently scheduled for early March. When we know the specific date and time, I will share that information and a link to the Michigan Supreme Court's livestream of the session.
