Over 340,000 Teamsters at UPS work are gearing up to fight for better pay and treatment on the job when their contract expires on August 1, 2023. If the company doesn't respond to their demands, they are preparing to take part in the largest strike in American history.

 

In August, DSA and the Atlanta community will be ready to mobilize in support of UPS workers! Sign our #StrikeReady pledge and commit to join workers on the picket line, receive updates, and get campaign texts and phone calls closer to the date! Learn more about UPS solidarity here!

At the 2022 Atlanta DSA Chapter Convention, members decided to prioritize our Chapter's labor work. We are building the labor movement by showing up for workers on the picket line, building relationships with rank-and-file union members, and helping our own members organize their workplaces.

 

But to do this, we need your help! Fill out our 2023 Labor Survey to tell us about yourself, your workplace, and the ways you'd like to help get involved in our work.

Atlanta DSA's Book Club explores a range of topics in socialist theory. In our biweekly meetings, we discuss big picture ideas about history, economics, and politics.

 

We'll be starting a new book, Prisoners of the American Dream, at our next meeting this Thursday, April 6th, 7pm – 8pm.

Fantastic news for our friends at IATSE Local 798 Makeup & Hair!

 

After last week’s unanimous union vote tally, the Atlanta Opera hair and makeup workers have finally managed to get the Atlanta Opera to agree to meet them at the bargaining table.

 

This is a huge victory for workers everywhere fighting misclassification and gender discrimination!! We look forward to continuing to support them in their fight to win a fair contract.

Too Risky For Union Workers 😤

Supreme Court justices’ decision to hear Glacier Northwest v. International Brotherhood of Teamsters is an ominous sign for the organized labor movement. 

 

The company is arguing that the strike caused it to suffer monetary losses. The Court will decide if the company can sue to make the union pay for it.
