John,
Last week, I voted against a toxic, anti-energy workers bill. Let me tell you why.
While the GOP gave House Bill 1 a misleading name and claimed it would lower energy costs, the truth is that it would do no such thing. This legislation would only serve to pad the pockets of Big Oil and Gas executives, rather than helping workers or consumers here in New Mexico.
I support our energy economy and the essential New Mexican workers who power it.
Oil and gas made trillions of dollars globally last year in part due to the expansion of oil and gas production in New Mexico, but workers and families aren’t seeing those profits — massive energy corporations and their executives are.
While my constituents pay $100 to fill up their trucks and our energy workers often live in tents and temporary trailer homes, wealthy executives are bringing in billions and living it up in mansions. My colleagues across the aisle want to make those wealthy CEO’s even wealthier at the expense of the people, and I won’t stand for it.
I will always fight to ensure New Mexico’s workers and families are a priority, which is why I voted NO on this bill.
The far-right are already attacking me for standing up to the Big Oil Barons, and we know it’s only going to get worse the closer we get to the 2024 election.
Can you chip in $10 or whatever you can afford to stand with me and help ensure I can continue to fight for the energy workers of NM-02 in Congress?
