“Providing tribal nations with the opportunity to work directly with the SWC on cost-share requests will better meet the needs of both tribal and non-tribal residents and ensure that all North Dakota citizens and communities have similar access to state resources that support local investments in critical water infrastructure,” Burgum, who chairs the SWC, said after signing the bill Thursday. “We’re grateful to the Legislature, our Department of Water Resources team and tribal leaders for their collaboration on this breakthrough legislation.”

"North Dakotans are encouraged to honor and thank our Vietnam Veterans for all they have given in service to our nation, to remember those who are or were missing in action or prisoners of war and to pay tribute to the heroes from this great state and nation whose names are listed on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.," Burgum stated.

“By joining the roughly 20 states that don’t tax military income, North Dakota is recognizing the sacrifice of military service and building on the momentum of our ongoing efforts to make ours the most military-friendly state in the nation,” Burgum said. “We’re grateful to the legislators, National Guard officials, military supporters and everyone else who advocated for this important tax relief.”
