** There’s Joy in Standing Up for the Truth! 🌱
------------------------------------------------------------

============================================================

Dear FAIR Community,

From workers’ rights to misleading inflation coverage, from corporate and government wrongdoing to police violence and media bigotry, FAIR has started off 2023 doing what we’ve set out to do since 1986: correcting media disinformation and bias, and empowering the public to demand a better media future.

Our small staff works hard, but so do the powers that be. We have our work cut out for us. Upcoming election coverage, ongoing environmental degradation and continual threats to people’s body autonomy and rights to self-expression are just a few of the issues we’re closely watching this year.

We need your help to keep consistently doing the work you count on.

** We need to raise $15,000 by May 1 to support our ongoing work. Please donate today! ([link removed])

We limit our fundraising pitches to no more than four drives per year, and our annual spring appeal is crucial in solidifying our finances for what’s ahead. Amid the past year's economic uncertainty, FAIR has seen our expenses go up, and our donations dip. These times are hard for many, including us! But, we’ve still seen so many members of our community continue to support us. For that, we are so grateful.

Your donations ensure our ability to benefit from the expertise of a diverse array of writers and interns, cover administrative costs to make our office run smoothly, and keep CounterSpin, FAIR.org and Extra! full of free content covering a wide range of topics.

Here are some of the stories we’ve been able to cover thanks to your support:
* Covering (Up) Antiwar Protest in US Media by Dave Lindorff
* ‘Objectivity’ Obliterates Empathy and Curiosity by Robin Epstein
* Cop City Coverage Fails to Question Narratives of Militarized Police by Olivia Riggio
* What Fox’s Bad Calls on Election Night 2020 Say About 2024 by David W. Moore

FAIR’s mission isn’t just to call out what’s wrong in corporate media. The reason we wake up and come to work every morning is because we believe our advocacy has the power to inspire our audience to believe that a better media future is possible. Even amid doom and gloom headlines, we strive to uplift the voices of activists and journalists doing powerful work.

This work is tiring, but it’s so worth it. There’s joy in standing up for the truth!

And there’s joy in knowing we have a community of Extra! and FAIR.org readers, and CounterSpin listeners, who faithfully support us. As a matter of fact, the majority of FAIR’s support comes from individual donors like you, and to stay fully independent, we never accept corporate or government grants, or advertising money.

** Donate to ensure a hopeful future for FAIR. ([link removed])

As always, thank you for being a part of the FAIR community.

In Solidarity,

Olivia Riggio, Janine Jackson, Jim Naureckas & Julie Hollar
