NC-06 Visits

IQE CHIP Manufacturer 
Congresswoman Manning visited IQE, a manufacturer of advanced compound semiconductor wafers in North Carolina's Sixth District. 
Congresswoman Manning helped to pass the CHIPs and Science Act, which empowers American CHIP manufacturers, like IQE, to ramp up production while helping to strengthen supply chains and promoting economic independence.

Books for Birthdays
Books for Birthdays is an organization in High Point that provides local children in foster care with new books for their birthdays.
Congresswoman Manning was pleased to present the organization with books from the Library of Congress' surplus book program

High Point Community Gardens and Urban Farms 
In preparation for the Farm Bill, which authorizes nutrition programs and supports local farmers, Congresswoman Manning toured various community gardens with Growing High Point and the Greater High Point Food Alliance.

Caswell County Farm Visits 
Congresswoman Manning visited two farms in Caswell County to learn more about the crops they produce and share her commitment to supporting local farmers.
Congresswoman Manning visited Mourning Dove Farms in Mebane, North Carolina, where she met with local farmers and visited their produce stand and market farm. Following her visit there, Congresswoman Manning visited Yarbrough Farm in Prospect Hill, North Carolina, where she met with local farmers and toured their row crops.

North Carolina A&T State University Farm and Pavilion
North Carolina A&T prepares students to become farmers, aids local farmers through their extension, and supports community gardens that provide food to residents living in food deserts. Congresswoman Manning was proud to tour A&T's farm and meet with students, educators, and farmers on-site.

Manning Delivers Federal Funding to Second Harvest 
Congresswoman Manning secured $1 million in federal funding through the Community Project Funding process for Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina. This funding will support the expansion of their work, prepare local workers to meet food distribution needs, and reach even more community members.

Fighting for Equal Pay

As Policy and Administration Co-Chair of the Democratic Women's Caucus, Congresswoman Manning spoke on Equal Pay Day in support of the Paycheck Fairness Act, legislation to help close the gender pay gap. 

"Nearly six decades after the passage of the Equal Pay Act of 1963, women still make, on average, only 77 cents for every dollar earned by men.

It’s time to pass the Paycheck Fairness Act and finally close the gender pay gap," said Congresswoman Manning. 

Highlighting North Carolina Women Trailblazers

On the House floor, Congresswoman Manning highlighted three women trailblazers from North Carolina who paved the way for future generations of leaders.

Supporting Women of the Triad

Congresswoman Manning attended the Women2Women annual luncheon in Greensboro, where Women2Women awards grants to local organizations to help uplift women in the community.

Legislative Highlights 

Manning Leads Workforce Development Task Force

In March, Congresswoman Manning began serving as Chair of the New Democrat Coalition Workforce Development Task Force. 

Congresswoman Manning is ready to get to work finding solutions to workforce challenges and helping prepare the Sixth District workforce to take on good-paying jobs.

Addressing Mental Health Telehealth Parity 

Millions of Americans rely on telehealth services to access mental health care. Congresswoman Manning led a bipartisan group of 28 Members of Congress in calling on the U.S. Department of Labor to issue guidance to insurers following the end of the COVID-19 emergency declaration to help maintain access to telehealth services.

North Carolina Sixth District Visitors in Washington, DC

Disabled American Veterans of Guilford County

In Washington, DC, Congresswoman Manning's team met with Bill Tate, Commander of the Guilford County Disabled American Veterans (DAV),
and other North Carolina DAV Commanders to discuss the issues that are most important to their members, Congresswoman Manning's advocacy for the Kernersville State Veterans Home, and her support of the PACT Act.

Congresswoman Manning was proud to help pass the PACT Act, legislation that finally treats toxic exposure as a cost of war by addressing the full range of issues impacting veterans exposed to toxins, including access to earned benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs. 

North Carolina Association of Librarians

The North Carolina Librarian Association met with Congresswoman Manning in DC. They were happy to share with her how they have utilized American Rescue Plan funding to expand internet access in rural communities to help bridge the digital divide.

Air Force ROTC Students from the Sixth District

Congresswoman Manning hosted Air Force ROTC students from North Carolina A&T State University and High Point University to discuss her work in Congress to support the Armed Services and share her appreciation for their dedication to serving the United States.  

North Carolina Community Health Center Association

The North Carolina Community Health Center Association visited Congresswoman Manning to present her with their Distinguished Community Health Center Champion Award, pictured above.

This month, officials from towns and cities in North Carolina's Sixth District came to Washington, DC and met with Congresswoman Manning.

Congressional Art Competition

Congresswoman Manning is thrilled to share that her office is participating in the 2023 Congressional Art Competition. 

The Congressional Art Competition is open to all high school students in North Carolina's Sixth District. The deadline to submit artwork is April 10th, 2023. For more details and to apply, visit Congresswoman Manning's website here.

The winning artwork will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol. The exhibit in Washington will include artwork from all participating districts from around the country. Winning artwork is also featured on house.gov's Congressional Art Competition page.
