The common food chemical Red No. 3 is used to make many different sweet treats look irresistible. But it’s linked to serious health issues like cancer and behavioral issues in children and is commonly found in our food because the FDA has failed to act.

It’s the FDA’s responsibility to keep our food safe and healthy, but they have woefully failed in their duty. Even in 1990, when the regulator banned many uses of Red No. 3, they continued to allow the use of this dangerous dye in food. Now the chemical is used in over 2,000 different food products across the country. Outrageous!

But now’s our chance – the FDA is reviewing its policies on Red No. 3 and asking the public to weigh in. It’s time to urge the agency to take our health seriously and get Red No. 3 out of our food for good. But we only have until May 18 to make our voices heard.

Just take a look at what the recent science has found on Red No. 3:

•	A study from the National Library of Medicine showed that Red No. 3 can cause cancer in animals.
•	A study from the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment found that, like other synthetic dyes, Red No. 3 can make children vulnerable to behavioral difficulties.
•	The same California health agency also found that current levels of Red No. 3 and other dyes may harm children’s brain health.
•	Now California A.B. 418 – currently going through the state assembly and supported by scientists – would BAN Red No. 3 and four other toxic additives from use in food.

We need your help to get this chemical out of our food nationally! Please weigh in before the May 18 deadline:
