Dear Neighbor,
Recently, I had the honor of visiting the first-ever exhibit of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Latino. I am proud to have worked with my colleagues on both sides of the Capitol to make this new museum a reality. We will not rest until it is funded to completion.
This exhibit—and the museum to follow on the National Mall—are a testament to the impact and influence Latinos have had in this country.
Every city in America enjoys Latino art, food, culture, and architecture. We have fought in every war this country has ever been in, and Latino workers are a driving force in our economy every single day.
But the pages of U.S. history are still missing so much of our story.
The Museum of the American Latino will ensure those stories are told and inspire future generations of Latinas and Latinos to celebrate and embrace our history.
Because Latino history is American history.
As the daughter of immigrant parents from Mexico, I could not be prouder to witness this moment.
Sincerely,
Linda T. Sánchez Member of Congress
