Hi John,

I’m very happy to be writing to you from home in Braddock after seeking
care at Walter Reed Medical Center. I’m excited to be the father and
husband I want to be, and the senator Pennsylvania deserves.
Pennsylvanians have always had my back, and I will always have theirs.

Clinical depression is no joke. After we won our race in November, my
symptoms began to get worse. The whole thing about depression is that,
objectively you may have won, but depression can absolutely convince you
that you actually lost. That's exactly what happened — and that was the
start of a downward spiral.

[ [link removed] ]Earlier this week I sat down to share my story with CBS Sunday Morning
to let others know that depression is treatable, that treatment works, and
that we all have to take care of ourselves. You can watch that interview
in full here.

The care that the experts at Walter Reed provided changed my life. This
isn’t about politics — right now there are people who are suffering with
depression in red counties and blue counties. If you need help, please get
help.

My staff told me that the #1 topic of calls to our Senate office every day
has been well wishes, and that means the world to me. Thank you for your
support.

With gratitude,

❤️ John

U.S. Senator, Pennsylvania
