We’re going to briefly explain why this has been dubbed ‘The most
important election of 2023’.

Abortion: A pre-civil war era abortion ban is currently in effect in
Wisconsin and was passed before women or African-Americans were granted
the right to vote. Whether it remains in effect or is tossed out depends
on the balance of the Wisconsin Supreme Court (if Janet wins, there will
be a liberal majority, breaking the 20-year conservative majority).

Democracy: Dan Kelly, Janet’s opponent, personally advised Donald Trump’s
efforts to overturn the 2020 election, including overturning the will of
millions of Wisconsin voters. He previously used the GOP headquarters as
his personal office as a “non-partisan” judge + has proudly embraced
January 6 insurrectionists.

Voting rights: Wisconsin Republicans succeeded in implementing one of the
most politically and racially gerrymandered district maps in modern
history in Wisconsin. Despite Democrats winning statewide, Republicans
hold a supermajority of House and state seats thanks to gerrymandering +
extreme voter suppression laws targeting Democrats. While Dan Kelly
supports these efforts, Janet will be a voice to end GOP gerrymandering
and voter suppression if elected.
