Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has decided to bring the failing Northern Rail franchise into public ownership.
This is fantastic news for suffering passengers!
But with the Williams Rail Review due to be published any day now, we have a chance to bring the whole railway into public ownership. Ask your MP to push for public ownership of the entire railway now, while Grant Shapps is considering his options.
We're really happy that Grant Shapps has taken the sensible decision to bring failing Northern Rail into public ownership. Passengers have suffered for years with delays, cancellations, overcrowding and even leaks and broken ventilation on old, shuddering pacer trains.Â
The long-awaited 'Williams Rail Review' is due to be published any day now. With Northern's franchise agreement being ripped up by the new Conservative government, anything could happen. Now is the time to push for full public ownership!
That way, we can have an integrated and joined-up rail network - not the fragmented mess we have today.
