While the United States continues to suffer under the Biden administration and New York faces an open season for crime, Manhattan Defense Attorney Alvin Bragg is focused on arresting President Trump. This is what an assault on democracy looks like – using government power to go after your political opponents – and it’s coming directly from those who proclaim to defend it. Our justice system has been dangerously weaponized under Joe Biden. Alvin Bragg, who is funded by George Soros, has decided to double down in his political witch hunt for Donald Trump. Americans are on edge as we witness the Soros-fication of our criminal justice system. Usually, it's third-world countries that suffer from astronomically high violent crime rates and corrupt political prosecutions. Now, Americans are forced to witness the consequences of a corrupt government in their own backyard. We now wake up in a very different America because we no longer have moral authority against the dictators and despots who find it easier to jail their political rivals than to compete against them in free and fair elections.
Moreover, during Wednesday's House Armed Services Committee (HASC) hearing on the “FY24 Defense Budget Request,” I grilled Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs General Mark Milley on the Biden administration's "woke" indoctrination of our Armed Forces. I asked Secretary Austin if he knew about Drag Queen Story Hours occurring on U.S. military installations. In response, Secretary Austin, without evidence, claimed Drag Queen Story Hours were not occurring on military installations. When confronted with the evidence, he continued with his misstatements.
These drag events and festivals are funded by the Department of Defense's (DOD) infamous Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) unit. However, as it turns out, the pressure I put on Secretary Austin and General Milley was successful in getting the DOD to change course. It was reported in a Fox News article on Friday that as a result of my exposing the DOD's DEI nonsense, the Pentagon announced it was dissolving its DEI unit.
In addition to this week’s hearing, I am proud to lead six lawmakers in introducing H. Con. Res. 30, a War Powers Resolution to direct President Joe Biden to remove the U.S. Armed Forces, excluding those assigned to protect the U.S. Embassy, from Somalia. For 16 years now, the U.S. has been involved in an ‘advise and assist’ mission in Somalia, and throughout the mission, we have carried out numerous operations and airstrikes within the country. Staying on brand for the warmongers of our time, former President Barack Obama utilized the 2001 Authorization for Use of Force against Afghanistan to target al-Shabaab in Somalia and we have stayed ever since. By August 2022, a civilian-harm watchdog group estimated that 78-153 civilians had been killed by US airstrikes in Somalia since 2007, including 20-23 children. How many more innocent Somalian children will be bombed before our military leaders realize their deaths do not make Americans at home safer?

When I asked Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin about drag queen events being held on military installations for children, he offered this response: "Drag shows are not something the Department of Defense supports or funds." Our own Secretary of Defense chose to conceal the fact that drag events funded by the Department of Defense (DoD) have not only been held on military bases but have been promoted for children to attend.
Furthermore, when I questioned General Milley about his previous aspirations to understand better his "white rage," I asked him if he had read a book titled "What is White Privilege" that was written by DoD employee Kelisa Wing. Last week, Kelisa Wing was in the HASC-hearing spotlight due to her racist tweets from 2021. After a six-month investigation into Wing and her posts that mention "CAUdacity," she still has a job with the DoD.
It is undeniable that our military leadership is now committed to promoting woke ideology. The DoD's job is to train and equip the most powerful military force in the world. Instead, they've created a "woke army," detracting from a focus on the training our service members actually need.

On Tuesday's episode of Firebrand, I announced my War Powers Resolution, which directs President Joe Biden to remove the United States Armed Forces from Somalia.
In 1992, U.S. soldiers were tasked with restoring order in Somalia during one of the many Somali Civil Wars. The Battle of Mogadishu, also known as the Black Hawk Down incident, was a U.S. military operation that took place on October 3, 1993. The mission was to capture two top lieutenants of the warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid. The troops, including U.S. Army Rangers and Delta Force operators, were attacked by Aidid's militia and other Somali fighters, resulting in the deaths of 18 U.S. soldiers.
As Americans at home become more aware of our country’s military misadventures abroad, the calls to end forever wars are growing; this includes Somalia. While the Congressional War Machine has decided to rage on in Somalia, they must explain how continuing the occupation of the country best serves the interests of the American people. If they cannot, it is incumbent upon the Congress to bring our troops home from Somalia and put America First.

America's top military leaders have brought misery to almost every part of the globe, and they've now taken it upon themselves to bring the ruin and suffering home. When I showed the Secretary of Defense evidence of woke propaganda and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) enhancements being peddled to U.S. Military Installations, he offered nothing but false statements full of denial.
It is unsurprising that our Armed Forces are experiencing one of the worst recruitment trends in the past 50 years. The unwillingness of people to join our military is the direct result of our current military leadership's crazy and outrageous behavior. Our military is comprised of a great share of people who are from the American South. When our military leadership decides to start embracing ideology that goes against the values of the majority of men and women who serve, it stifles our country's ability to create the fighting force we need.

On Thursday, I was joined by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (FL-13) on an episode of Firebrand to discuss the recent scandal involving the United States Air Force. It's been confirmed that the Air Force released information regarding Republican veterans running for Congress.
In a Military Personnel Subcommittee hearing earlier this week, I questioned the top Air Force General in charge of the personnel division, Caroline Miller, about this issue. She referred to the incident as a "breach," but in reality, the Air Force gave the information to a Democrat-funded opposition-research entity. After repeatedly asking General Miller if she knew if anyone at the Air Force had been fired for leaking the information, she claimed that she didn't know.
It is disgraceful that a branch of our Armed Forces made the partisan decision to engage with Democrats in an attempt to stop Republican candidates from achieving seats in Congress. Now, Rep. Luna, who was a victim of the information leak, plans to hold the Air Force accountable by introducing legislation to specifically zero out the salaries of those who are responsible. We must remind the military whom they actually serve, as they appear to believe they are free to abuse their authority and are not answerable to the American people.

On Tuesday, I went on Steve Bannon's War Room to discuss the Biden border crisis. Pro-amnesty establishment Republicans want one thing: An asylum island large enough to accommodate every caravan that comes through our southern border. They would rather engage with big business and depress wages by keeping the border wide open.
By allowing thousands of illegal aliens to flow through our border on a weekly basis, the American taxpayer will continue to suffer. Holding our leadership responsible and forcing votes on the House floor will reveal who is on each side.
Rewarding illegal immigration, amnesty and relaxed border enforcement sends a powerful message to other potential illegal immigrants to come to the U.S. unlawfully. The Biden administration has submitted a defense budget that includes $70 million for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. I joined Tony Perkins on the Washington Watch to discuss my research on how some of those funds might be being used. After looking into where the Department of Defense is currently spending taxpayer dollars, I found a series of festivals and events funded by the Department of Defense (DoD) where drag queens were brought in to read stories to children.
Why should the American taxpayer fund these events and festivals? In the name of DEI, Joe Biden has created division within the ranks and failed to ensure America will continue to hold the high ground.
CONGRESSMAN GAETZ: LOW ENERGY COSTS ACT WILL HELP AMERICANS
On Thursday, the House passed H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act, which prioritizes the American people over the Left's radical climate agenda. The effects of Bidenflation are suffocating our economy. The Lower Energy Costs Act will alleviate the pain caused by this administration by lowering gas prices for all Americans and contributing to making America energy independent again.
I’m proud to report that I secured a provision in the bill to protect the current moratorium on oil and gas leases in the Gulf of Mexico, including the Eglin Gulf Test Range.
I’m also grateful to Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (FL-13) and Rep. Michael Waltz (FL-06) for securing a requirement for the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to publish a report on the impact of wind energy on military readiness and more before the Secretary of the Interior can hold a lease sale for wind-energy development in the Gulf.

On Tuesday, I joined Rep. Andy Biggs (R-AZ) and five other of my Republican colleagues at a press conference announcing that we are demanding spending cuts and reforms if we are to raise the debt ceiling. During the press conference, I highlighted Speaker McCarthy's letter to President Biden regarding the debt-ceiling negotiations, which reflects my call for work requirements on Medicaid and other social safety-net programs.
My colleagues and I have identified hundreds of areas of the federal government where spending can be reduced or zeroed out to save the nation hundreds of billions of dollars and attack a "woke," weaponized government. It is our responsibility to put the nation back on a path of fiscal sanity, and President Biden needs to know there will no increase in the debt limit without significant spending cuts and reforms.

I am proud to have co-sponsored Representatives Ken Buck, Pramila Jayapal, and Matt Rosendale’s bipartisan legislation that would ban Members of Congress and their spouses from owning and trading stocks. Congressional insider trading needs to end and picking a side on this is NOT a hard issue. Members of Congress are either in support of trading stocks on Wall Street while they hold office or they are not. As long as concerns about insider trading hang over the legislative process, Congress will never regain the trust of the American people.
I do not use my position as a Congressman to hedge any bets on the stock market because I am focused on serving FL-01 and my fellow Americans!
