John: 14-year-old Isaac* lives in southwest Yemen. For as long as he can remember, his country has been at war – this year, the war will enter its ninth year.
One day, while at school playing soccer with his friends, the ball rolled over to the other side of the schoolyard. It was an area known to be in reach of a sniper, but Isaac thought no one would shoot him for picking up a ball. He was wrong. He was shot in the leg and had to crawl back to safety as the sniper continued to fire.
Thanks to an emergency surgery, Isaac is on the mend, and thanks to supporters like you, we provided cash assistance to help his family cover medical costs and other essentials as well as mental health counseling to help him recover emotionally.
We set a goal to raise $300,000 so we can continue supporting children across the globe who are affected by today’s most urgent issues. And thanks to a generous group of donors that has contributed to a matching gift fund, all gifts up to our goal will be MATCHED – but only until midnight tomorrow.
