Jack, on Thursday we learned that a grand jury in New York voted to indict Trump on charges related to his $130,000 hush payment to cover up a relationship with Stormy Daniels.

Minutes after the announcement, lies and propaganda spewed from conservative news media outlets. We need to make it clear: No one is above the law. Not even former presidents and not Donald Trump. The indictment is sealed so there is very little we actually know. We don't know how many charges there are, let alone what the charges are.

However, the lack of facts hasn't prevented the tsunami of disinformation coming from the right. Once the news broke, it seemed like every Republican put out a statement and hit the airwaves to defend the twice impeached former president. Talking heads on the right and GOP office holders echoed Trump's lies and propaganda of calling the case a "WITCH HUNT!!," "communist-level shit," "unprecedented authoritarian attacks," "an act of pure corruption and election rigging," "weaponizing the justice system," "a dark day in America," and last, but certainly not least, in what appears a shaded call for violence Tucker Carlson said “probably not the best time to give up your AR-15.”

Daily Kos will continue to work around the clock to debunk the onslaught of disinformation and elevate our collective voices to ensure that justice is pursued to the very end.

The problem is that right-wing media outlets like Fox News, Newsmax, the Blaze, the Daily Wire and so many more, dwarf progressive outlets. Further, thanks to social media, right-wing lies spread like wildfire across the internet giving them a huge reach and influence over the American population.

Daily Kos is one of the largest progressive news outlets in the country, but we need to be much, much bigger in order to more effectively debunk right-wing lies that are threatening our democracy.
