To drive change, the grassroots must work effectively with elected officials who are doing the right things to represent us. When one of our Senators or Representatives is taking a stand, grassroots support can make the difference to let them know they are not standing alone.

With that in mind, here’s an important fight that we should loudly support:

Standing up for the Unborn

Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) is taking a courageous stand to defend life and end the Department of Defense’s (DOD) radical new policy to use taxpayer dollars to facilitate abortions.

On February 16th, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin finalized a policy that puts American taxpayers on the hook to cover non-chargeable paid time off, and travel costs for abortions for our military and their families. This would expand the policy to millions of people.

To fight this policy and save the lives of unborn Americans, Sen. Tuberville has courageously pledged to place a hold on all DOD nominees, such as flag and general officers, as well as civilian nominees. We need more Senators to stand alongside him in this effort. It is critical for both Sen. Tuberville and the DOD to know that he is not alone and the grassroots has his back.

Remember, the Department of Defense works for you. We fund them with our taxpayer dollars in order to protect innocent American lives. It’s appalling that those funds are now being used to kill the most innocent of all American lives.

It’s important you make two calls:

1. Call your Senators and urge them to publicly state their support for Sen. Tuberville’s effort to hold the Biden administration accountable . You can find your Senators office phone numbers here.

For decades, some leaders in the United States have made the mistake of thinking that “the era of great power competition was over.” America can no longer pretend that its position on the world stage remains unchallenged, or that losing that position wouldn't have grave consequences for the world and for America’s citizens on the home front.

The People’s Republic of China, as ruled by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), poses a clear and present danger to the security and wellbeing of all American citizens. The Heritage Foundation has set the need to counter the threat of Communist China as one of its 7 policy priorities.

In order to lead the way and steer policymakers to take meaningful action, The Heritage Foundation has released a comprehensive plan to counter China.

China has:

• Leveraged American financing and technology to fuel economic and military growth
• Compromised the security of tens of millions of Americans’ personal data
• Made America dependent on Chinese supply chains for critical products such as key pharmaceuticals and rare earth elements
• Stolen trillions of dollars worth in intellectual property rights
• Provided Mexican drug cartels with precursor chemicals knowing they will be used to create potent fentanyl that is then smuggled across our open southern border
• And the list goes on...

The United States can no longer turn a blind eye. There must be a whole-of-government, whole-of-society approach if we are to win this new Cold War.

When America is at its best, we are unrivaled. Restoring America's greatness is key to confronting the threats ahead.

Congress, it's time. Secure the Border.

Heritage Action continues to pour pressure on Congress to keep its word. The current Republican majority promised to secure the southern border and to halt the flow of illegal immigrants, drugs, and human traffickers into our country.

Senate Fails to Pass Oversight for Ukraine Aid

Key Vote - Heritage Action’s most recent Key Vote concerns government oversight and accountability. The United States has sent $113 billion in military and economic aid to Ukraine. Yet, there has been minimal efforts to oversee that money and make sure it is spent responsibly.

If passed, Senator Josh Hawley’s amendment (#40) to S. 316 would have brought more stringent oversight to the money that has been sent to Ukraine. This amendment would have brought accountability to Washington D.C. and made sure that money is being properly spent and not wasted.

The Senate failed to pass the Hawley amendment by a vote of 26 to 67.

In Case You Missed It

Student Loans - Biden’s illegal, debt-shifting scheme was ruled by the Government Accountability Office to be a regulation that is subject to the Congressional Review Act (CRA). Congress now has the opportunity to pass a resolution overturning the administration's attempt to interpret the HEROS Act as grounds for transfering $430 billion in student debt onto the backs of the American taxpayer.

Senator Bill Cassidy (R-La.) and Congressman Bob Good’s (R-Va.) have proposed two CRA resolutions (S.J.Res. 22/ H.J.Res. 45) preventing implementation of this student loan bailout.
