This is a sobering moment.
Max Hardcore, whose real name was Paul F. Little, passed away Monday at a Los Angeles hospital due to septic shock and pneumonia.
Max was a porn industry AVN Hall of Fame director and performer who was largely responsible for popularizing abusive, violent porn.
He was featured prominently in Exodus Cry’s new documentary series Beyond Fantasy, which exposes violation, coercion, and abuse in the porn industry.
Some of the most chilling moments in the series are when Max unabashedly explains, and shows, how he violently degrades and dehumanizes women and girls.
The “Hardcore” episode of Beyond Fantasy, which we just released on Thursday, spotlights these atrocities.
With a career that spanned several decades, Max radically shaped the landscape of pornography, ushering in the widespread acceptance of sex acts that are often criminal.
Producer Eric Swiss shared in “Hardcore,” “Before Max, pornography was a very tame thing…. All pornographers, whether they accept it or not, owe a large part of their craft to what he developed… As pornographers, we stand on the shoulders of the genius of Max Hardcore for what he created.”
Exodus Cry carries the conviction that many of the acts depicted in Max’s videos constitute sexual assault and would warrant criminal prosecution.
For years, while crafting this documentary, our team has prayed through and explored how he could legally be brought to justice.
In the wake of his passing, we will continue to provide life-changing therapy to victims of abuse in porn and work to uproot the widespread genre of abusive porn which he built his fame on.
