Today is Trans Day of Visibility, John, a day to celebrate the trans community and raise awareness about the discrimination the trans community faces.
This year, Trans Day of Visibility comes at a time when attacks on trans rights are at a record high.
In state legislatures across the country, Republican lawmakers hellbent on cruelty have introduced hundreds of dangerous bills targeting the trans community, including measures restricting healthcare, public expression, and education.
This is exactly what we mean when we say states — and who we elect — matter.
At Sister District, we’re proud to work to build progressive power and increase representation in state legislatures — including helping to elect candidates like our alumna Danica Roem in Virginia in 2017, the first openly transgender state lawmaker in the United States.
But our work isn’t over. States like Virginia are shaping up to be huge battlegrounds in the fight for trans rights this year, and we’re counting on your support to defeat anti-LGBTQ+ Republicans.
If we want to protect trans rights, we have to build progressive power in state legislatures. If you’re in this urgent fight with us, chip in now.
In solidarity,
Sister District Project
