First, In 2018, at the urging of her neighbors, Summer threw her hat in the ring for State House — taking on a 20-year incumbent, doubling voter turnout, and winning with over 67% of the vote. She made history, becoming the first Black woman from Western Pennsylvania ever elected to the legislature.
Then in 2022, Summer Lee made history again as the first Black woman ever elected to Congress from Pennsylvania. She ran a people-powered campaign to take on the mega-rich and powerful and build a brighter future where all working people can thrive.
Now, our team is facing our very first FEC end-of-quarter deadline since Summer has been serving in Congress.
When Summer ran for Congress, she took on the political establishment with a strong grassroots campaign. But corporate PACs spent millions of dollars against Summer to try and stop her, and now we have to be prepared for them again to spend big against us this cycle.
We only have a few hours left until midnight — and then all of our fundraising for the quarter will be sent to the FEC.
