Here are some recent updates.

Senate Bill 1, Texas’ omnibus 2021 voter suppression law, is finally headed to trial. In an order yesterday, the federal court hearing the consolidated case scheduled the beginning of the trial for Sept. 11, 2023. We’ll have much more to say on this case as the trial date draws nearer. [link removed]

Yesterday, the Texas Senate State Affairs Committee advanced several anti-voting bills, including a bill eliminating the countywide polling program and a bill that could purge voters for failing to vote. We’ll have more to say about these bills soon. [link removed]

Here’s what to expect coming up.

We have an exciting announcement coming on Monday — stay tuned for more!

Monday will be another order day from the U.S. Supreme Court. Right now, we’re waiting to see if the Court will decide to take Huffman v. Neiman, a case about congressional redistricting in Ohio, or Harness v. Watson, a case about felony disenfranchisement in Mississippi.

Wisconsin's crucial state Supreme Court election is next Tuesday. Tomorrow on Democracy Docket, Assembly Minority Leader Greta Neubauer (D) will break down what's at stake and what the race means for democracy in the Badger State.

We’ll also be publishing our April Litigation Look Ahead — be sure to read to stay up to date on everything going on in the courts next month.
