Rep. Troy E. Nehls Meets with Medal of Honor Recipients Greetings! I wanted to take a moment to share with you a recap on what happened last week in Texas' 22nd District and the United States House of Representatives. This Week in Washington Rep. Troy E. Nehls Meets with Medal of Honor Recipients Over the weekend, I had the privilege to meet with Medal of Honor recipients in Washington, D.C. Receiving the Medal of Honor is the most distinguished decoration a service member can be awarded in the United States military. These individuals went above in beyond in their service and it was an honor to recognize their service and sacrifice to this country. Rep. Troy E. Nehls Responds to Wall Street Journal: Heroes of Nashville Opinion | The Heroes of the Nashville School Shooting Monday's murder of six people, including three 9-year-olds, by a deranged attacker at a Christian primary school in Nashville is another sign of mental illness unleashed. Many on the left and right barely paused in horror before renewing the... Read more www.wsj.com After reading an article in the Wall Street Journal about the law enforcement officers who responded to the shooting at The Covenant School in Nashville, I wrote a letter to the editor to commend their response time and bravery. Read my letter below: Regarding your editorial “The Heroes of Nashville” (March 30): As the former sheriff of Fort Bend County, Texas, I applaud the extraordinary response time of law-enforcement officers Rex Engelbert and Michael Collazo to the active shooter at the Covenant School in Nashville. Within 10 minutes of receiving the call, the officers entered the school and neutralized the threat. Their heroic actions prevented any further bloodshed, saving innocent students and teachers. Every day, law-enforcement officers prepare for duty, not knowing if they will ever see their loved ones again. Their bravery often goes unnoticed and unappreciated. We should all take time to recognize, appreciate and commend the heroism of Nashville’s finest. Rep. Troy Nehls (R., Texas) Richmond, Texas Rep. Troy E. Nehls Speaks at Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee Hearing on the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act This week, I attended the Transportation and Infrastructure Highways and Transit Subcommittee hearing on the Implementation of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Congress must perform oversight to ensure taxpayer dollars are being used correctly and that the Biden Administration is consistent with the letter of the law. Watch my remarks HERE. Rep. Troy E. Nehls Votes YES on the Lower Energy Costs Act I was proud to vote YES for the Lower Energy Costs Act, which would end Biden's war on American energy production and lower costs for families across the nation. This legislation would increase domestic production, reform the permitting process for all industries, reverse anti-energy policies of the Biden Administration, streamline energy infrastructure and exports, and boost the production of critical minerals. It's time to put our country back on the path to energy dominance. Rep. Troy E. Nehls’ Op-Ed in The Hill: They did their part, now let’s do ours The Medal of Honor: They did their part, now let's do ours As a veteran of wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, I have had the distinct honor and privilege to lead and serve alongside some of the most extraordinary, heroic, and selfless Americans our nation has ever produced. I'm inspired every day by their... Read more thehill.com This week, I authored an op-ed for The Hill, addressing the financial struggles of Medal of Honor recipients. I highlight the bipartisan Medal of Honor Act, introduced with Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01), which would increase the special monthly pension that Medal of Honor Recipients receive to an annualized amount of $100,000. This bill is a small step forward but one we can take to begin the broader dialogue to ensure all our Veterans, and their families, receive the care and resources they need. Rep. Troy E. Nehls Meets with K9s for Warriors I had the pleasure of meeting with K9s for Warriors, the nation's largest provider of service dogs to veterans. We had a great discussion on how they connect service dogs with veterans suffering from PTSD, traumatic brain injury, or military sexual trauma. Our nation's veterans should not go through their struggles alone. In Texas, we will always support our veterans who sacrificed so much for this country.
