You may have seen clips from the recent hearing about TikTok and how so many of my colleagues showed that they simply do not understand how this industry works.

I’ve been on the forefront of digital civil rights for years, and I’m proud to have taken the opportunity to ask TikTok’s CEO about how algorithms harm Black creators and suppress phrases like “Black Lives Matter” – and how this is not just a TikTok problem, but an industry problem.

Seeing how my colleagues across the aisle fell into racist remarks and foolish comments showing how little they know about the tech world, it’s clear that we need more voices like mine to hold the giants of big tech ACTUALLY accountable.

And that’s partially why I’m emailing you today, team.

I have a critical end-of-quarter fundraising deadline tonight at midnight, which means that after today, our finances will go public and my opponents will be able to see just how strong our network of small-dollar donors really is.

Can I count on you to chip in whatever you can before midnight tonight?

My voice in Congress is essential, not just in holding big tech accountable and advocating for Black content online, but as the ONLY Black woman representing New York, I have a unique position to advocate for the things that matter most.

From the Black maternal mortality rate that is still far too high for such a wealthy nation to lead pipes in our schools to the rights and dignity of immigrants everywhere, my voice is necessary to pushing for progressive goals in the House.

So whether you can give $5 or $50, please chip in before midnight so we can show the extremists who want to flip my seat that we have the resources necessary to fight back!
