American families are struggling as energy prices soar, raising costs at the pump, in electricity bills, and in the grocery store – all because of the Biden Administration’s war on American energy.

Still, President Biden continues to make it nearly impossible to produce energy in America with burdensome regulations, instead turning to foreign dictators like Putin for our energy needs, even though the United States makes it cheaper and cleaner than anywhere in the world.

This week, the House passed the Lower Energy Costs Act. which reduced expenses across the board for American families by unleashing American energy and restoring our energy independence. 

From the day he took office, President Biden has waged war on American energy, and hardworking families are the ones paying the price: since President Biden took office, energy costs have hit record highs, with gas prices up 51 percent and household electricity prices up 24 percent, while real wages are down 4 percent. And yet, President Biden continues to drive inflation sky-high by blocking American energy production with red tape while begging hostile foreign countries like Russia for oil. America can and should be energy independent – we have the technology to produce our own energy cleaner and more efficiently than anywhere else in the world, while lowering costs for hardworking families. The Lower Energy Costs Act will increase American energy production, reform our broken permitting process, reverse the Biden Administration’s radical anti-energy policies, streamline our energy exports and imports, and boost the mining of critical minerals. 

American energy sustainability and dominance is critical to the future of our nation. The Lower Energy Costs Act provides a common sense path forward to boost domestic oil and gas production now, while securing renewable supply chains for the future. Labeling it as a non-starter shows how committed Biden and Democrats are to their green-at-any-cost ideology.

I spoke on the House floor in support of H.R. 1 before the House passed this vital legislation. 

Yesterday, the Manhattan District Attorney indicted President Trump. I believe that Trump being indicted is an example of our justice system being used to target political opponents and will set a dangerous precedent for future presidential elections. I want to know what you think. 

It was a busy week in Washington! I started the week with a hearing with the EPA to address the environmental response to the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio. The residents of these communities must be able to trust that their air, water, and soil are not a threat to their health. I spoke at a House Energy Action Team press conference in support of the Lower Energy Costs Act with a group of my colleagues on the Republican Study Committee. I had the privilege of meeting with local officials in Washington to discuss important issues they are facing. Thank you to the Mayor of Beaumont, Mayor of Port Arthur, Port of Port Arthur's Port Director, Port of Freeport, Port of Houston, Port of Orange, Sabine Neches Navigation District, and Port of Beaumont for taking the time to come up to meet with my staff and I. 

I also got to talk with an impressive group of students from Texas City High School. What a great group of students. I always enjoy discussing policies and critical issues with the next generation. 

While I was in Washington, Team Weber stayed busy! They presented a certificate to Kelley’s Country Cookin’ to celebrate reopening their restaurant after a tragic kitchen fire almost burned down the entire restaurant. The newly renovated restaurant looks great, and we congratulate their resilience! Later in the week, Team Weber attended the Italian Aerospace Delegation Luncheon, where Italian companies came to explore ways to collaborate with NASA. 

Brazoria County United Front Coalition Meeting held its spring meeting with guest speakers from Unbound Now Houston to discuss early intervention in schools for detecting potential human trafficking and exploitation. Then they received an update at the South Belt Ellington Chamber of Commerce meeting with District Directors from the Texas House and Senate on things they are working on.

• H.R. 1793 - To reserve any amounts forfeited to the United States Government as a result of the criminal prosecution of Joaquin Archivaldo Guzman Loera (commonly known as "El Chapo"), or of other felony convictions involving the transportation of controlled substances into the United States, for security measures along the Southern border, including the completion of a border wall.
• H.R. 1816 - To amend the Higher Education Act of 1965 to ensure campus access at public institutions of higher education for religious groups.
• H.R. 1640 - To prohibit the Secretary of Energy from finalizing, implementing, or enforcing the proposed rule titled "Energy Conservation Program: Energy Conservation Standards for Consumer Conventional Cooking Products", and for other purposes.
• H.Res. 253 - Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that Vice President Kamala Harris should be removed from her position as the head of the Biden administration's strategy to address the root causes of migration.
