PASSAGE OF THE LOWER ENERGY COSTS ACT

In our Commitment to America, House Republicans promised to end President Biden’s attacks on American energy production — and we delivered.

Our Lower Energy Costs Act will lower gas prices for our families, reduce input costs for our farmers, and make our country energy independent again.

The final vote was 225-204 - with four Democrats joining all but one Republican and six members not voting. Rep Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Pa., voted against the bill Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) has declared H.R.

MY AMENDMENT TO THE LOWER ENERGY COSTS ACT

I'm proud that my amendment – the Defend America's Rural Energy Act – to the Lower Energy Costs Act passed the U.S. House of Representatives with wide support.

My amendment prevents China from buying American farmland suitable for ethanol and biodiesel production, which is vital to our rural economy in Iowa and our energy security at large.
Nearly 200 Dems join Republicans in blocking China from...

A bipartisan House majority overwhelmingly approved a measure Thursday to protect rural land critical for renewable energy production from Chinese investors. The measure - an amendment sponsored by Rep. Randy Feenstra, R-Iowa - was approved in a...

MY OP-ED WITH REP. BLAKE MOORE ON OUR DEBT CRISIS

American families live on a budget, yet President Biden’s budget calls for trillions in more taxes, spending, and debt.

We cannot ignore the severity of our debt crisis and leave our children and grandchildren with the bill.

You can read my op-ed on our debt crisis with my friend and Ways and Means colleague, Rep. Blake Moore, below.
American families live on a budget, why can't Congress?

From the plains of Iowa to the mountains of Utah and everywhere in between, millions of American families sit around the kitchen table to talk about their budgets for the week, month, and year.

INVESTING IN AGRICULTURE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

Continued investment in agricultural research and development is vital to our family farmers and rural main streets in Iowa. Foreign nations, including China, are outpacing our investment in agricultural research at an alarming rate. We must increase our investment as well so that we can continue to be the breadbasket to the world and help our rural communities thrive.

That's why I’m proud to lead the Advancing Cutting Edge Agriculture Act with Rep. Jimmy Panetta to help keep our producers profitable, productive, and competitive in global markets.

Washington, D.C. -- This area's congressman and one from California have introduced legislation to double funding for agriculture research and development. Congressman Randy Feenstra, a Republican from Hull, and Congressman Jimmy Panetta, a...

MY MEETING WITH THE AMERICAN RENTAL ASSOCIATION

This week, I had a productive conversation with the American Rental Association about tax policy and my work on the Ways and Means Committee.

We discussed the need to extend vital provisions in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, including bonus depreciation and the qualified business income deduction.
MEETING WITH THE IOWA PORK PRODUCERS

I enjoyed my conversation with the Iowa Pork Producers this week about the need to open more export markets and enhance our preparedness to prevent foreign animal disease outbreaks.

As the top pork-producing district in the country, I will always protect our hog farmers and their families.
RECAPPING MY FIRST AGRICULTURE ADVISORY BOARD MEETING

Iowa farmers, producers, and our agricultural community deserve a strong Farm Bill that benefits our state and our agriculture sector. Between international trade and conservation to crop insurance and livestock programs, all 12 titles of the Farm Bill support the success of Iowa agriculture and the vitality of our rural main streets.

As the second largest agriculture-producing district in the nation, I am working to ensure that every farmer, producer, and agricultural stakeholder in Iowa has a seat at the table when the Farm Bill is negotiated and eventually signed into law.
Feenstra Holds First Agriculture Advisory Board Meeting

Last Thursday, U.S. Rep. Randy Feenstra (R-Hull) held his first Agriculture Advisory Board meeting to preview the 2023 Farm Bill and answer questions from his 60-member board. Feenstra and the board discussed the Biden Administration's harmful...

ONE MORE THING: HIGHLIGHTING MEMBERS OF MY AGRICULTURE ADVISORY BOARD

Did you know that Iowa ranks 7th in the nation for turkey production?

That's why I appreciate having Ben Slinger – former President of the Iowa Turkey Federation – on my Agriculture Advisory Board to ensure that Iowa's turkey farmers have a strong voice in the Farm Bill.
Letter to the Editor: Feenstra stands up for Iowa's...

Dear Editor, Iowa is home to roughly 130 turkey farms and ranks seventh in the nation for turkey production. Raising 12 million turkeys every year, this important industry to Iowa's economy supports 38,000 jobs, contributes over $50 million in...

MY WEEKLY COLUMN: AMERICAN ENERGY PRODUCTION ADVANCES ECONOMIC PROSPERITY

In 2019, the United States became energy independent for the first time in 62 years – a major milestone for our nation’s energy and national security.

However, on his first day in office, President Biden destroyed American energy production and our energy independence by killing the Keystone XL pipeline, saddling American energy producers with crippling red tape and additional taxes, and outsourcing our energy needs to our enemies.

That’s why, this week, House Republicans passed our Lower Energy Costs Act – one of our top priorities this Congress – which will cut burdensome red tape for our energy sector, lower gas prices for our families, reduce input costs for our farmers, and end President Biden’s attacks on American energy production.
