Feliz Cesar Chavez Day, Friend!
While Texas is facing some of the most extreme attacks from the far-right we’ve ever seen, I think it’s important to think back to our state’s progressive roots -- and Cesar Chavez is an important part of that history.
Chavez is one of our country’s most important civil rights and labor leaders, whose courage in the fight for justice, fairness, and equality continues to serve as an inspiration to countless individuals from different communities and different corners of the world.
Cesar Chavez dedicated his life to fighting for mistreated migrant and labor workers across our country so that they would earn a living wage, work under humane conditions, and never again be exploited.
His fight is our fight -- and it continues today.
Today, I am honored and humbled to carry on his fight in the halls of Congress. However, Cesar Chavez’s legacy isn’t just meant for lawmakers and politicians. Anyone who chooses to believe in the words “si se puede” -- and anyone who believes that we can be a more perfect, fair, and dignifying union -- can have a long-lasting impact in this fight.
This is why today, I ask everyone that believes in the fight to save our nation and state -- to believe in our collective power. When we come together and put in the hard work, we can bring about the change needed to advance an agenda that will put working families first. Will you join me in honoring Cesar Chavez's legacy by making a $7 donation to the Texas Democratic Party?
