Democrat,
Today, March 31, is International Trans Day of Visibility, when we celebrate the joy and resilience of our trans and non-binary communities.
To celebrate, the DNC will be hosting a virtual panel discussion TODAY at 5:00 PM on the importance of uplifting the trans and non-binary community. The panel will feature DNC Chair Jaime Harrison, as well as movement leaders like Charlotte Clymer, Josie Caballero, Vivian Topping, Evan Minton, and Marisa Richmond.
With unprecedented numbers of anti-trans bills being presented in state legislatures across the country, it is critical that we stand up and fight for our trans and non-binary partners in this movement. RSVP HERE [[link removed]] .

NJDSC also extends heartfelt and good wishes to our Hindu Community in New Jersey on the occasion of Chaitra Navaratri and Rama Navami. May this occasion guide us all to act with kindness and compassion.
Additionally, this week we witnessed the unprecedented indictment of a former President. The grand jurors reviewed the evidence and found that it warranted indictment, and I thank them for their service and their commitment to the legal process. We should remember that no matter how this concludes, the Republican Party has enabled and celebrated the former President’s attacks on democracy and his policies that punished working families. New Jersey Democrats will continue to do what we always do — advocate for the middle class, protect reproductive freedom, and fight for a stronger and fairer New Jersey.

Governor Murphy announced this week that the first batch of ANCHOR Property Tax Relief payments were on their way to more than 800,000 New Jersey taxpayers who elected their rebate via direct deposit.
“At a time when families are facing increasing pressure on their wallets, it’s a good feeling to know we are following through on our promise to make New Jersey more affordable,” said Governor Murphy . “This is real relief getting sent to more of our hardworking taxpayers than ever before, proof that a future we are determined to make more affordable and full of opportunity is possible.
Following the issuance of the direct deposit payments, paper checks will begin to be mailed, in batches, the first week of April. The majority of payments will be issued before May 3, 2023, with applications that need additional information potentially taking more time to finalize.
New Jerseyans can check the status of their application and payment here [[link removed]] .

This week, in line with President Biden’s efforts to conquer the opioid crisis in America, the FDA approved Narcan, a naloxone hydrochloride nasal spray, for over-the-counter, nonprescription use. Naloxone is a medication that rapidly reverses the effects of opioid overdose and is the standard treatment for opioid overdose. This important move paves the way for this life-saving medication to be sold directly to consumers and will save lives.
Opioid overdoses continue to persist as a major public health issue in the United States, with more than 101,750 reported fatal overdoses [[link removed]] occurring between October 2021 and 2022, with Fentanyl poisoning remaining the leading cause of death [[link removed]] among Americans between the ages of 18 and 45 years old. Naloxone has been effective in treating fentanyl poisoning and this decision will help community-based organizations purchase and distribute naloxone to those who need it most.
I am grateful that the Biden Administration remains committed to improving public health and assisting those working hard to end the opioid crisis.
— Chairman LeRoy J. Jones, Jr.
P.S. To celebrate Women's History Month, our Latino Caucus hosted a discussion this week about the power of Latinas in politics! Thank you to our featured speakers Latino Caucus Chair Arlene Quiñones Perez, NJDSC Executive Director Saily Avelenda, and Morris County Dems Chair Amalia Duarte.
