Check out behind-the-scenes moments from March >> 7 Photos from March 📸 Friend, It's an honor to represent you in Congress and fight for our Kansas values. I wanted to take a minute to share some behind-the-scenes moments with you from March. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you ever need anything from my office. Sincerely, Jake LaTurner 1. Highlighting the Fentanyl Epidemic in Kansas: The worsening fentanyl epidemic is crushing families and communities across Kansas. During an Oversight Subcommittee hearing on the southern border, I told the story of Nicholas "Cruz" Burris, a 15-year-old student at Lansing High School who died of a fentanyl overdose earlier this year. 2. Visiting with Students from Fort Scott Middle School: I was grateful to end my week in Washington by spending time with 8th-graders from Fort Scott Middle School outside the U.S. Capitol. We chatted about what it's like to serve in Congress, my priorities for Kansas, and our favorite Fort Scott restaurants. 3. Serving Kansas Veterans: I had the opportunity to talk with Kansas veterans about issues they are facing back home and what my office can do to help ensure our veteran community is getting the care they deserve from the federal government. It's an honor to serve our nation's heroes. 4. Meeting with Jayhawks and Wildcats: It's always great to see Jayhawks and Wildcats come together—especially during basketball season. I was thrilled to meet with students from KU and K-State to talk about how Kansas universities are working to return to normalcy following the pandemic. 5. Passing the Wounded Warriors Access Act: I had a great meeting with Kansas veterans from the Wounded Warriors Project this month! Earlier in the day, the House passed the Wounded Warrior Access Act—a bipartisan bill to help streamline the process for veterans to submit a claim to the VA. 6. Fighting for the Parents Bill of Rights: I voted in favor of the Parents Bill of Rights—a bill to guarantee parents across America a seat at the table when it comes to their children's education. I joined Fox Business to talk about this crucial legislation. Watch the interview here. 7. Demanding Answers from Secretary Blinken: I questioned Secretary of State Anthony Blinken during an Appropriations Hearing on President Biden's FY2024 budget. I asked him for answers on the Biden administration's botched withdrawal from Afghanistan and how we are working to counter Communist China. ‌ ‌ www.laturner.house.gov Washington, D.C. 2441 Ryaburn House Office Building Washington, DC 20515 Phone: (202) 225-6601 Topeka 3550 SW 5th St. Topeka, KS 66606 Phone: (785) 205-5253 Pittsburg 402 North Broadway Street Suite B Pittsburg, KS 66762 Phone: (620) 308-7450 Rep.
