Dear Neighbors,
I am very happy to report that in a recent City & State analysis of New York City Council Members, I received top ranking for my work in 2019.
The analysis included constituent services and communications outreach, as well as each Council Member's legislative work.
As I told City & State, I’m very lucky to have such a great team working with me, both at City Hall and in my Columbus Avenue office. In 2019, my staff served the needs of District 6 constituents in approximately 4,000 separate cases. We worked on issues such as tenant harassment, street safety, and sanitation. Read about all the work of our office here.
Also last year, the City Council passed, and the Mayor signed into law, 11 pieces of legislation which I sponsored. Among these were bills that require tracking of vacant storefronts, a ban on deadly "ghost guns" in New York City, close monitoring of City services for survivors of domestic violence, and accountability from the Dept of Education for students with disabilities and their families.
I want to stress that our legislative work received tremendous support from advocacy and community groups across the city, who generously shared their on-the-ground expertise with City Council staff. Developing and passing substantive legislation is truly a team effort.
As always, don't hesitate to contact my District Office at (212) 873-0282 or my City Hall office at (212) 788-6975 with any questions.
Warmly,
