Dear John

The migration landscape is constantly evolving. In this context, what do leading migration experts think about changing trends and policy developments? MPI’s World of Migration podcast can help you make sense of the changes, offering thoughtful guests and perspectives on some of the more pressing issues in the humanitarian protection, migration management, immigrant integration, and other realms.

Today, we are releasing an episode spotlighting an area of policy innovation in the humanitarian protection space: The use of complementary pathways, such as existing work and study visa channels, to aid people in need of protection. Our Susan Fratzke discusses the topic with Betsy Fisher of Talent Beyond Boundaries. Tune in to learn about interesting approaches to supporting refugees and connecting them with life-changing employment opportunities.

World of Migration recently examined the scrutiny that investor visa programs have been coming under, how they work, and their benefits and drawbacks. And before that, the podcast took a look at the “great replacement” theory and the ways in which the confluence of immigration, polarization, and nationalism can be interpreted.

In the coming weeks, World of Migration will explore labor migration in West Africa, the impressions of MPI researchers who traveled from one end of the U.S.-Mexico border to the other, and longer-term integration challenges and opportunities for displaced Ukrainians in Europe.

If you want a deep dive into the growing nexus between migration and environmental change, look no further than our podcast Changing Climate, Changing Migration. And check out Moving Beyond Pandemic, our podcast that explores the questions and challenges arising as mobility resumes after an unnatural chill.
