John, House Republicans have made it clear that they want to keep our pro-climate agenda out of Congress.
They unanimously voted against President Biden’s landmark Inflation Reduction Act. They’re trying to dismantle key environmental protections from our Farm Bill. They voted to overturn President Biden’s Clean Water Rule. And just yesterday, passed H.R. 1, a bill that should be named the “Polluters Over People Act” because of all of the oil and gas giveaways in it.
To make matters worse, the National Republican Campaign released their target list, which includes 15 of our SEEC Members.
Here’s our harsh reality: With 15 seats already at risk of being flipped in 2024 — including 8 of our freshman Members — we can’t afford to fall behind on this goal. If we do, we’ll not only have to spend the rest of the year playing catch-up — we’ll be sending a signal to House Republicans that they have a clear path to defending their majority.
John, this deadline is our first litmus test against Republican opposition — and we need to make sure we have the resources to keep fighting for climate change, conservation and wildlife protection, environmental justice, clean energy, and so much more in 2024.
Thanks to your help in 2022, SEEC PAC was able to re-elect over 95% of our pro-environment members to the U.S. House of Representatives — defying the odds on a night where Democrats lost seats. Now we are counting on you to help our SEEC members pass climate, clean energy and environmental justice policies in the 118th Congress while we continue fighting for a sustainable future.
