Women of Color Leadership Cohort in-person convening in February
Hi John ,
We’ve hit the ground running in 2023 because we know that the victories we achieve in 2024 and beyond will be determined by the power we build today. Over the last three months, we’ve launched an exciting lineup of trainings and events, working with the organizers and leaders who will be at the heart of the biggest fights, some of which are already in progress.
Across the country we’re seeing a continued wave of attacks against our LGBTQ+ community. In Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Oklahoma we’re seeing anti-LGBTQ+ bills escalate and become law. To our LGBTQ+ family, we’re with you and we continue to fight alongside with you.
Internally, re:power has continued to invest in our infrastructure, expanding our capacity with several new team members (get to know some of them below!) that will allow us to better serve our movements. Now more than ever our destination and vision are clear, a liberated, multiracial democracy, free from the oppressive systems of white supremacy and patriarchy. We’re excited for the work ahead and to build with you.
This future is ours to build, are you with us?

re:cap — Our Year to Date
Data Strategy Course
We kicked off 2023 with our virtual 3 week Data Strategy Course. This crash course in “movement data,” provided a deep dive into data for legislative advocacy and organizing. Throughout the course participants practiced building an organizing plan with metrics, learned how models work, and developed tests.
Women of Color Leadership Cohort
In February we convened our 2023 Women of Color Leadership Cohort. Our Women of Color Leadership Cohort is a 12-week cohort experience curated specifically by and for self-identifying women of color, with learning spaces designed to amplify the unique leadership abilities within women of color while building connections and continued growth. This cohort experience focuses heavily on heart work—an intentional focus on personal development of women of color mentally and emotionally—addressing participants' holistic needs to step into authentic liberated leadership. The experience will culminate in a transition to coaching, mentoring, and joining re:power’s alumni network.
Back to Digital Organizer School!
In March we launched our in-person Digital Organizer School in Texas. This training is re:power’s core offering for progressive organizers, digital practitioners, and communicators who are looking to build technical skills and invest in their strategic ability and leadership within the movement. Training topics for this 5 day training ranged from email writing, TikTok and new media to online fundraising.
Campaign School for Field Directors
This month we also kicked off our virtual Campaign School for Field Directors. As we head into another high-intensity election year, re:power’s Campaign School for Field Directors is designed to build the capacity of campaigns to run effective field programs. This 4-part training series will focus on ensuring that field directors gain the skills and tools needed to determine field strategy and goals. This includes recruiting, hiring and managing field staff, voter targeting and contact, messaging and persuasion, and utilizing digital tools for organizing.

Early this year, re:power Executive Director, Karundi Williams, co-authored an op-ed with Tom Perriello, Executive Director of Open Society Foundations, that focused on the need for more investment and training for our local and state elected officials, our greatest line of defense against attacks from the Right on the issues we care about most: bodily autonomy, voting rights, and healthcare.
