I have not seen many cable news pundits bring this up, but we are seeing it in real-time. Republicans from across the country - from the "moderate" to the most extreme far-right, fringe segment of the GOP - have unified in support of the former President.
This is very dangerous for our side, we dismissed Trump once before and we saw how that turned out. Here are a few quotes from Republican lawmakers past and present, pay attention to their remarks: they are all towing the party line.
Mike Pence, former VP - “The unprecedented indictment of a former president of the United States on a campaign finance issue is an outrage...”
Rep. Kevin McCarthy - "The American people will not tolerate this injustice, and the House of Representatives will hold Alvin Bragg and his unprecedented abuse of power to account."
Sen. Lindsay Graham - “But you need to help this man, Donald J. Trump. They are trying to drain him dry.”
Sen. Ted Cruz - "This is completely unprecedented and is a catastrophic escalation in the weaponization of the justice system."
Sen. Josh Hawley - “The Democrats know this has nothing to do with the law. They’re sending a message. The message is they will use any power that they have to interfere in the next presidential election.”
Rep. Lauren Boebert - "Trump has been indicted! This is another political witch hunt targeting the people’s President."
John, this is not a moment for us to take lightly or to let our guard down. I do believe it was the right thing to indict Trump because, in America, no one is above the law. He did commit a crime. My concern is, however, that he committed far more serious crimes and I do not want those to be overlooked as a result of this. The ongoing case in the Georgia courts is very strong, not to mention the biggest crime of them all: the Jan 6th insurrection.
From this moment on we must be prepared to take on a unified, well-funded, MAGA movement. They won before and it would be foolish for us to think they can't win again. Our job at No Dem Left Behind is not just to talk to those who agree with us, but to reach out to Republicans and Independents. Know that we are seeing the unification of the GOP in real-time.

How we approach this will determine how the 2024 Presidential campaign will go. We cannot wait. Our country will not be the same if Trump is back in the Oval Office.
