Today, the PCCC is proudly endorsing Brandon Johnson for Mayor of Chicago, IL in the April 4 open-seat runoff against Paul Vallas.
Vallas is an anti-choice, self-described conservative who has been endorsed by Chicago’s notorious police union (that also endorsed Trump) and a Republican hedge-fund billionaire who spent millions against Democrats in the midterms last year.
Brandon is a public school teacher, a county commissioner, and a union organizer who has devoted his life to serving his community and taking on corporate, entrenched special interests and politicians like Paul Vallas.
Brandon Johnson has surged in polling since the primary and is currently tied 44% to 44% with Vallas. But 12% of voters are still undecided, so this weekend is crucial.
Johnson’s grassroots campaign has built a broad coalition of supporters including elected officials like Senator Elizabeth Warren, and labor unions like the Chicago Teachers Union.
On learning of our endorsement, Brandon stated, "I am proud to receive the endorsement of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee. Together, we will fight for fully funded public schools, affordable housing, good-paying jobs, and a stronger, safer Chicago. I’m grateful for the PCCC’s support and look forward to working with them for years to come."
Chicago is one of the largest and most progressive cities in the country. The impact of having a true progressive at the helm instead of an anti-choice conservative with deep Republican ties will reach far beyond the city limits.
If you can, please chip in $3 or more today to Brandon Johnson’s campaign for Chicago Mayor.
Thanks for being a bold progressive.
