Team — I want to explain why our team keeps reaching out about the end-of-quarter fundraising deadline tonight.

There can be a lot of scammy, over-the-top emails to trick or scare you into giving. Let me be clear, I don’t believe in those and will never send those to you.

But I do want to emphasize that the deadline tonight is, in fact, a real deadline — and an important one too. After tonight, our team is going to compile our first fundraising report of the new election cycle, and it will be public for everyone to see.

These FEC reports (that’s the Federal Election Commission) are really important to our campaign — they show the strength of the movement we are building and send a message to everyone, especially the Republicans targeting this seat, that the people of NY-18 believe in our message and support our work.

We know Republican committees will be scanning our report for any signs of weakness, and potential opponents will use our report as a barometer for what our support looks like. By posting strong numbers at the beginning of the new election cycle, we can send a powerful message to GOP groups that this seat isn’t up for grabs.
