More ways to help LGBTQ students!

Dear John,

For nearly 30 years GLSEN has been building a network of supporters in communities across the country—working directly with students and educators on grassroots efforts and building momentum for national change.

During today’s challenging times, it’s important for us to stand together in support of LGBTQ youth. We are facing resurgent challenges with new urgency, and are grateful to you for joining us in this fight.

We hear from a lot of our supporters who want to know, if I can’t make a donation right now, what can I do to help GLSEN? How can I support LGBTQ youth in my community?

Each of us can make a positive—and life-changing—impact on students and schools in our country, here are a few ideas:

  • Testify to the importance of LGBTQ identities (especially in the schools you attended!) at School Board meetings.

  • Sign up for GLSEN Action Alerts (While the opposition is loud, there are many more of us than them!)

  • Stay tuned for opportunities to get involved in 2020. (We just recognized our 16th annual No Name Calling Week this month!)

As with so many progressive movements, it all starts with a single gesture that leads to bigger things. Each of us, acting together, can help create safer schools and break the silence about discrimination against LGBTQ students and teachers.
