Hi Friend,
Created in 2009 [[link removed]] by transgender activist Rachel Crandall, Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) takes place annually on March 31st to celebrate trans and non-binary people and raise awareness about the discrimination they face. TDOV was created in response to Transgender Day of Remembrance (November 20th), which, at the time, was the only trans-centered observance day and focused on mourning the murders of trans people. TDOV is a day that uplifts and honors trans people while recognizing that visibility isn't enough; we won’t stop until we achieve full liberation for trans, nonbinary, and gender non-conforming folks all across this country.

This year for TDOV, URGE is celebrating and unapologetically uplifting our amazing transgender friends, neighbors, and URGE community members. Here are a few ways you can join in:
* Celebrate gender euphoria! Listen to this gender euphoria playlist on youtube [[link removed]] curated by URGE staff. Gender euphoria is the opposite of gender dysphoria, which describes a state of unease that comes from the chasm between one's socially perceived identity and their internal sense of self. Gender euphoria attempts to reverse the medical model of transness based in pain and suffering, instead centering experiences that affirm people's identities and bodies.
*Honor progress and hear how we must continue to cultivate a path forward together. Join URGE’s Our Folks cohort members, Ë11VËN, Darcelle, and Ollie on Instagram Live @urge_org for ‘Trans Day of Visibility: Where We’ve Been, Where We’re At, Where We’re Going’. They will offer reflections on current anti-trans legislation and the war on trans rights, touching on the preservation and survival of trans lives, and centering and uplifting Black trans trailblazers.

However you spend TDOV, we hope that you can stop and take at least one minute today to recognize the contributions of trans members of your community, contribute to a gender euphoric experience for someone (or create one for yourself), and acknowledge the joy that comes with being able to live your truth, even when it’s under attack.
To our transgender members: we<3 you, and we celebrate you!

In solidarity & joy,
URGE
