Hi John,
Today is Transgender Day of Visibility, an international event dedicated to celebrating the power and successes of transgender people.
2023 has been a heartbreaking year for the transgender community in state legislatures — especially for trans youth. In the spirit of Transgender Day of Visibility and celebrating trans and nonbinary people, here are three of our joyful moments so far in 2023 and one action you can take today.
1. I am extremely proud of all of the trans and non-binary people on our team. These dedicated and hard-working team members have directly supported 32 of our state partner organizations with over 146 hours of advocacy, coaching, training, and legislative support.
2. Equality Federation has distributed over $187,750 to our state partners to defend transgender rights (with more to come). This funding has been disbursed via direct cash grants, rapid response funding, paid phone programs, and healing justice funds for the staff working tirelessly across the country.
3. Over 453 pro-transgender bills have been introduced in 36 states, plus D.C. These bills would allow transgender people to update legal documents accurately, provide access to gender-affirming healthcare, protect transgender people from “panic defense” attacks, and more.
Donate today to help us increase our support! [[link removed]]
Trans people deserve flowers and rights in their lifetime. We honor and cherish the legacy of the many trans people we’ve lost. But today and every day is a celebration that trans people are here and deserve our help in gaining a strong foundation of human rights. Trans people are strong and powerful, but the push for human rights is one we can all make together. Today, on Transgender Day of Visibility, we remember that we are more than the challenges we face and that we are strong because we stand together.
Take action today to stand with Equality Federation: donate and show your support for trans rights in all the communities we call home.
In Solidarity,
