This is a big moment for my campaign. It’s the first test of our movement’s strength since we broke through the 30-year logjam and passed major gun safety legislation — on top of our victories on infrastructure, climate action and lower prescription drug prices.

So after this deadline, the FEC legally requires us to report our fundraising numbers. Doesn’t matter if they’re great or if we come up short, every federal candidate has to file this report.

And unlike a lot of politicians in Washington, I really try to raise money the right way — 100% from people and not a dime of PAC or corporate money. The power of your support allows me to spend less time fundraising and more time doing the work you elected me to do. But I also know from experience how easy it is for a billionaire self-funding candidate to pop up out of nowhere.

So I have to be ready, and that starts with hitting this goal.

I am personally asking you to please contribute whatever you can afford to my campaign before our deadline. We cannot come up short and risk looking vulnerable to attacks from the gun lobby and corporate interests.

Truthfully, I consider myself one of the lucky ones among my colleagues. My time at fundraising events and on the phone is kept to a minimum because the response to emails like this one is generally pretty great.
