Former President Donald Trump was just indicted on charges related to hush-money payments made to Stormy Daniels and another woman on his behalf in the lead-up to the 2016 election.

This is an outstanding victory for the rule of law and our democracy. No one is above the law, and it’s crucial for our democracy that we keep it that way.

But this is also just the beginning. Trump has a long history of unethical and criminal behavior, and many more charges are likely to come as the investigations continue.

Trump’s ongoing attempts to incite violence and leverage intimidation to get out of these charges do not befit a former president. Trump attacked the very core of our democracy by inciting his followers to violence on January 6, and it’s clear he has no qualms doing so again.

Trump’s attempts to incite similar violence couldn’t get much more blatant after his social media posts echoing his statements ahead of that attack, as well as a recent rally in Waco, Texas.
