*Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act *Resources Series March 2023 Update**

BIL and IRA resource series

This is part of a series of messages from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), to share updates on relevant Bipartisan Infrastructure Law [ [link removed] ] (BIL) and Inflation Reduction Act [ [link removed] ] (IRA) information related to energy and sustainability. This series will occur monthly and provide a snippet of upcoming federal grants, trainings, and other resources.

*WORKSHOP OPPORTUNITY:??*Now is an important time to get your community?s plans and projects ready for these energy-related funding opportunities. The MI Healthy Climate Conference Catalyst Communities Workshop [ [link removed] ] will explore planning for and implementing decarbonization actions in your community. Register for the Workshop [ [link removed] ] by *March 31, 2023*.

*FEDERAL GRANT OPPORTUNITIES: *Sixty Michigan local governments and Michigan tribes are eligible for formula funding through the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) [ [link removed] ] Program for a broad range of energy projects. Eligible local governments must complete a pre-award application sheet [ [link removed] ] by *April 28, 2023*. See the Allocations to Local Governments [ [link removed] ] for a list of cities, townships, and counties eligible for the direct formula allocation, and the amounts of each award. The State of Michigan is also applying for $2.7 million in funding to create pass-through grants for communities not eligible for the direct formula allocations.?

The new competitive Charging and Fueling Infrastructure (CFI) Grant Program [ [link removed] ] will award $700 million in grants this year across the U.S. to build publicly accessible electric vehicle charging and alternative fueling stations in communities and along highway corridors, especially in underserved and disadvantaged communities. The deadline to apply is
*May 30, 2023*.?

The 2023 round of Clean Energy Technology Deployment on Tribal Lands [ [link removed] ] grants are now open, with a deadline of *May 16, 2023*. These grants can be used to install clean energy systems or energy efficiency measures, deploy community-scale clean energy or storage, or power unelectrified tribal buildings. Tribes are also eligible for formula planning grants of $500,000 each, through the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant Program (CPRG) [ [link removed] ]. The deadline for tribes to apply for CPRG is *June 15, 2023*.?

*LIST OF OTHER FEDERAL GRANTS:* The State of Michigan is also applying for several energy-related federal funding programs, and will have many pass-through competitive funding opportunities open for local and tribal governments, over the coming months. The Michigan Infrastructure Office also has a Technical Assistance Center [ [link removed] ] that funds communities to directly contract with consultants through their Metropolitan Planning or Economic Development Organizations for grant writing, administration, and other services.
