[Blue and pink text saying: Today is Transgender Day of Visibility]

Each year, March 31 marks International Transgender Day of Visibility, a day dedicated to celebrating the joy and accomplishments of [transgender]([link removed]) and [nonbinary]([link removed]) people, while also raising awareness about the work that remains to support their rights and identities. [Research shows]([link removed]) that transgender youth report a significantly higher prevalence of suicide attempts than their LGB or straight peers. Today and every day, AFSP is committed to supporting the mental health of transgender individuals.

To learn about AFSP's position on policies that affect trans and nonbinary people, you can visit our recently launched [LGBTQ Individuals & Populations page]([link removed]), which is now publicly available. In our advocacy efforts, we support sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) data collection to better inform suicide prevention strategies for trans people. We also urge states to prohibit conversion therapy and reject any efforts to restrict access to gender-affirming care for trans youth. For more details and data, you can read our [LGBTQ Individuals & Populations issue brief]([link removed]).

In addition, AFSP is thrilled to be partnering with two trans creators, [Alexander Tries]([link removed]) and [Audrey Kriss]([link removed]), on March 31 to highlight the importance of supporting the mental health of the trans community. We couldn't be more excited to share their stories, and encourage you to check it out at [instagram.com/afspnational]([link removed]).

Learn more about how to help prevent suicide among transgender and nonbinary individuals by participating in AFSP's newly updated education program, Talk Saves Lives™: An Introduction to Suicide Prevention in the LGBTQ Community. You can find Talk Saves Lives events through your local chapter by visiting our [Program Calendar]([link removed]).

We hope you’ll join our efforts to support transgender mental health on March 31 and all year round.
