In a democracy, no one is above the law. With the historic indictment of a former president, some are predicting violent protests, encouraged by Trump himself. His dangerous rhetoric threatens the rule of law once again. But it shouldn’t be this way.
Democrats believe that no one is above the law and peaceful protest is a fundamental right in a healthy democracy . As we all address what it means for the first former President to be charged with a crime, we must also stand up against the conspiracy-driven threats and violence that are now hallmarks of the MAGA right.
